Oregon State will try to ruin its rival's national championship bid Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, when the Beavers take on top-ranked Oregon in a Pac-10 Conference finale at Corvallis, Ore. The Ducks, who are No. 2 in the Bowl Championship Series standings, would be a lock for the BCS title game if they defeat OSU. But a loss would open the door for No. 3 Texas Christian, which has finished its regular season 12-0.
Of course, Oregon (11-0 overall, 8-0 Pac-10) is an overwhelming favorite over Oregon State. Coach Chip Kelly's Ducks, after all, have put up rather astonishing numbers en route to the best start in school history. In addition to leading the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision in offense, they've been impressive on defense and special teams.
The Ducks had some trouble at home vs. Arizona last week, but pulled away — in typical Duck fashion — to a 48-29 victory. Oregon has outscored its opposition 256-64 in the second half, and 101-14 in the fourth quarter this season.
